My name is SANDY MIGHELL, and I am a certified Nia Black Belt Instructor and Movement Coach who has been experiencing the myriad benefits of Nia Technique for 13 years, and dancing through my life for many more years than that! I guess it really began at a very young age, with my father swaying with me to Frank Sinatra in the kitchen, and dipping me down until my hair touched the floor—how I giggled! And it's exactly this kind of play that I like to bring to my Nia practice.
My classes have been described by my students as being "like a spa treatment for the body," "rejuvenating", "grounding" and even at times, "outrageous"! I hope to bring to my Nia classes a sense of personal safety, real comfort and vibrant joy in the body, as well as a deep and satisfying relationship of the body to music through expressive movement. Through Nia we make possible the transformation of our cell tissue by infusing it with positive conversation, conscious motion and awareness of the wholeness and the uniqueness of each of our bodies--and this journey into the body is well worth taking.
I also love photography, travel, x-c and downhill skiing, hiking, reading, writing, meditation, and all kinds of music (especially world music!) I'm also a big fan of large breed dogs, volunteer as a foster dog family for Big Dogs, Huge Paws in Denver, and I enjoy cuddling with my big, black, furry Newfoundland.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in class! I am also available for private parties, small group or private movement coaching sessions, and workshops. I have a keen interest in bringing healing movement to those of us who are challenged with pain issues, and for helping women of all ages (perhaps especially young women) learn to have a positive relationship with their bodies.
Won't you come and join me for some fun?
Warning: giggling often spontaneous and full-bellied.
